Rear Beaver Cove


A small group attended an outdoor mass at the site of Johnny and Miriah MacKinnon's farm. Theirs was the northernmost farm of the original 25 in that area. 
This is the first of 25 homes that composed the Rear Beaver Cove, It was inhabited for about 100 years ending in 1919. This shrine surrounds the MacKinnon home which is signified by a giant rosary as well as a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Standees include Johnanna MacKinnon, Theresa MacKinnon James MacKinnon, Norman MacIntyre, Peter MacNeil and Blaine MacKinnon

    Is it possible to get a tour to the site of John MacKinnon's home? I just realized he was my great great grandfather. I was confused by the reference Iain a Chuil in to The Hills of Boisdale. When I was told it meant from the Rear, and saw he married Mairi MacDonald and settled in Rear Beavers Cove things became clear.
